Liquid Detergent Color Measurement

With the market for detergents being in excess of $65 billion yearly and having virtually limitless growth potential, it is a very competitive market worldwide. Performance and appearance consistency both are highly prized by the consumer and the manufacturers.

HunterLab products provide measurement support in two key areas:

1.) Performance measure.  To evaluate the cleaning power of a detergent, typically soiled samples are measured for reflectance color, washed in detergent, then measured again.

2.) The difference in color reflectance is related to cleaning power. Measuring the color of the detergent itself.   Both liquid and powder detergents are measured as a part of the quality assurance process.

HunterLab has been supplying the detergent industry with quality color measurement systems for nearly 60 years.  Our experience in this industry started with Procter & Gamble, still one of our highly valued customers.

Other detergent customers include Sun Products, Church & Dwight, Reckitt Benckiser, Henkel, Clorox, among many others.

We have a number of products popular for use in this market.  Many customers prefer the UltraScan PRO or UltraScan VIS, for their unmatched ability to measure both liquid and powder samples, especially with UV and fluorescent optical brighteners. If your product does not contain these brighteners, then the robust ColorQuest XE will be a very suitable instrument.  For measuring only for cleaning power, the LabScan XE is a very popular choice, because of its large 50 mm sample viewing diameter.  For portability, look at the MiniScan EZ.

Let HunterLab’s experience be an asset for you.  We offer worldwide application and service support, as well as educational programs to enhance the knowledge of your staff.  Let us partner with you in improving your detergent products.

Many HunterLab spectrophotometers are versatile enough to accommodate most applications of color measurement. However, based on our 60 + years of experience and our customers’ uses, these particular instruments are most suited for this industry application.
